Skinny Front Flap Card

Not a clever name, but I like the title to be descriptive and that is the best I could come up with. I did see this design on Pinterest but forgot to write down the original card maker.  I designed my own version using the Symbols of Fortune DSP and it was part of my April zoom class. While I love the gold embossed side of the paper, the pretty flowers and colors on the other side of this DSP won out. Take note, the elegant tag punch is being discontinued along with many other products so don’t forget to shop now. You can find a full list of materials and measurements in my free pdf file.

You can come and watch or you can gather your materials and create along with me. You will need Basic White or Very Vanilla Cardstock, Ink, Sponge Dauber or Blending Brush, and your favorite stamp set. You can precut your cardstock to 3 3/4″ x 5″ or you can have your paper trimmer handy to cut it during class.

RSVP and pay by May 21, 2022

We will make 8 cards in this class and the materials kit is $22 plus $4 shipping and handling. We will be making 2 of each card. All paper will be cut and scored ready for you to assemble during class. No stamped images will be provided, but the Designer Series Paper adds all the color to these cards so you will simply need some sentiments to finish them off. I instruct how to assemble the cards during the zoom class and you will need to provide your own glue.

Four Corners DSP Card

This week we are making a card for baseball fans featuring the Hey Sports Fans Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up. No sports fans in your family? That’s okay this is a fun card to make using whatever DSP you have on hand. My favorite part of this card is that you get to see both sides of the DSP even if it’s just a small peek. I actually made this card a few years ago using Specialty Christmas DSP for my online class.

News from Stampin’ Up

Starting 1 April 2022, standard shipping and handling rates will permanently increase in all markets. As expedited shipping option rates are calculated in addition to standard shipping and handling pricing, these options will also see a cost increase (please see the Q&A section below for more information).

The new pricing structure will increase shipping charges as follows:

  • In the United States, standard shipping and handling charges will change from $6.95 USD or 10% (whichever is greater) to $7.95 USD or 11% (whichever is greater)—including territories and APO/FPO.
  • In Canada, standard shipping and handling charges will change from $9.95 CAD or 10% (whichever is greater) to $10.95 CAD or 11% (whichever is greater).

You can order from the current catalog through May 2, 2022, but if it’s on the retiree list then it is available while supplies last. If you like the 2020 – 2022 In Colors then order them soon before they are gone. We will make a total of 8 cards. Two butterfly balcony cards which are pictured in the center, 3 Symbols of Fortune Cards which are pictured on the right  and 3 Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper cards which are pictured on the left. The Symbols of Fortune cards, open a bit differently. The long Skinny piece at the bottom flips open to the left and the center DSP flips up. Your two butterfly cards will look exactly the same but as you can see from the picture, the other 6 cards will be a mix of all 6 designs from the DSP packs.

I have held several classes here for members of the VFW post but if you are local and would like to come, they welcome outside guests. We will be making 9 cards, 3 each of the 3 designs in the picture above. The tulip card is a double easel card and will be in three different colors. The sentiments can also be changed so that you can have Birthday or Thinking of You cards  if you don’t need Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards.

Sticky Note Holder and Acrylic Frame Gift Idea

The above holders are made for 3″ x 3″ sticky notes with a total pad thickness of 1/4″. Depending on the sticky notes you buy you can divide one note pad into two holders. The PDF file contains all the measurements for making these quick and easy gifts. These make great teacher gifts as well as cute favors for a ladies gathering.

Every month I  make a craft kit or a gift for the girls in a group home in my community. This month I used some discontinued polka dot DSP to make an insert for a 4″ x 6″  acrylic frame. I placed a tear off calendar on the outside of the frame but you could easily put a sticky note pad instead. The measurements for this project are in this week’s file.

Upcoming Class: Annual Catalog Debut

I know it is a month earlier than usual but Stampin’ Up has made changes to their catalogs. The Annual Catalog will now be May through April each year instead of June through May and our mini catalogs will each last 6 months. The current mini goes from January through June and the new mini will start in July and go through December (NOTE: Due to the world wide shipping crisis the new mini will be delayed by one month so this year it will come out in August.)
I will be charging $5 (plus $2 for S&H) for materials this time to help defray cost and your packet will include materials to make 3 cards using new supplies from the new catalog, samples of the 5 new in-colors and a door prize. I will put door prizes in envelopes and randomly distribute them through out the packet so I won’t even know who got what until our zoom meeting. There are some beautiful new flower dies and super cute punches in the new catalog and I can’t wait to share them with you on the 14th.
